Developed by CANChild, the F-words focus on six key areas of child development – Family, Fun, Friends, Functioning, Fitness and Future. F-words help us focus on strengths by thinking about the things our children CAN do.
We hope to encourage families, caregivers and professionals in children’s developmental services to adopt this way of thinking and apply these concepts with children with disabilities.
The F-Words underpin the approach used in the SmartStart Hub at Surrey Place and across all Children’s Treatment Centres.
CANChild has developed F-Words training modules that include storytelling approaches, practical tools and modules to introduce methods to shift perspectives. By the end of the course, learners will be able to apply the F-words in their lives and clinical practices. Click the button below to register and log in to access the modules for free.
