This one-to-one service focuses on individualized learning goals and is suitable for children and young adults who would benefit from frequent or daily practice in skill development. This includes children and young adults:

Individual services are delivered starting at two hours per week. Focus areas are identified after an initial skills assessment. This assessment is completed during the first and second session. Behavior Analysts will work closely with caregivers to identify meaningful goals. 

How do I choose between 1-to-1 FBI for Behavioural Challenges and 1-to-1 FBI for Skill Development?

Children and teens with more complex behavioural challenges may benefit from our exciting, new 1-to-1 FBI for Behavioural Challenges model, while those with goals that are more focused on communication, daily living skills and emotional regulation may prefer our 1-to-1 FBI for Skill Development. 

What funding can I use to purchase this service?

This service can be purchased using your OAP funding (e.g., Access OAP funding, childhood budgets, interim one-time funding, etc.), out-of-pocket, external philanthropic support, community-based funding programs or private insurance. 1-to-1 Focused Behavioural Intervention (1-to-1 FBI) for Behavioural Challenges

1-to-1 FBI for Behavioural Challenges is a new 1-to-1 Surrey Place service that delivers ABA intervention using the Practical Functional Assessment (PFA) and Skills Based Treatment (SBT) model. The PFA and SBT model provides an essential analysis to develop intervention which builds trust and rapport and ensures high levels of engagement for children and teens who have challenging behaviours such as elopement, self-harm, aggression or destruction of property.* 

*This enhanced ABA product is currently in its pilot phase and is accepting clients with behaviours that are medium or lower in intensity or risk. We intend to support clients with behaviour challenges that are higher in intensity soon. 

Please note: 1-to-1 FBI for Behavioural Challenges is an enhancement of current services and is in a pilot period with a staff training component. In order to participate in this service, you will be required to consent to third party participation of a supervising trainer, observation and video recordings. Your clinician will be an experienced Behaviour Analyst, who is undertaking enhanced training in Practical Functional Assessment (PFA) and Skills Based Treatment (SBT) to support children and teens with more extensive behavioural needs.

1-to-1 Focused Behavioural Intervention (1-to-1 FBI) for Skill Development

1-to-1 FBI for Skill Development is the traditional 1-to-1 FBI product that Surrey Place families know and love. 1-to-1 FBI for Skill Development is a customizable individual ABA service for children and teens with unique goals that aren’t addressed in our group programs.  

This service incorporates a range of evidence-based applied behaviour analysis (ABA) teaching methods and includes lots of positive reinforcement to make learning fun. Some of the key goals of this one-to-one service include group readiness, communication, emotional regulation and daily living skills.
